What the hell is a Danity Kane?

Seriously, what the hell is that? Is that a dog? A new breed of poodle?

I mean, they might be great and all but really, a nomination for best pop video at the MTV VMA's? Yeah? That's all you got? Danity Kane? Sweet Christmas, that's how far they had to go? Yikes.

(After about 30 seconds-It only takes 30 seconds to do research these days, you gotta love the internet!)

Oh, so one of the "band" members' could draw anime and Danity Kane was one of her drawings. That solves that. Danity Kane! Anime Spawned Music!

Funny Moment This Afternoon:

At the shed, while waiting for Maia to pick us up, I was standing on the corner in the pouring rain...okay, not really pouring, just wanted to use that line. Anyway, I was there waiting for Nico to get there too. Martin, Luigi, Ally and Tasha were already there waiting as well. When Nico arrived, he came with Anton (Whaddup Jesus Christ) and his other friend (dunno who you are dude, but whaddup). We were talking for a minute when Martin heads on over to us with Luigi not far behind. So the scene was, everyone else in the shade and cover of the cathouse, me and 5 other dudes standing around looking like a bunch of grade-A fools. What did I do? I stealthly excused myself and went to talk to Tasha. Moral of the story here kids, it's never good to be in a group of dudes. In the rain. When there's shade and women close by. It looks wrong. Very wrong. Oy vey.

Forgot

Wow, I forgot all about it. Haha. This is my 101st post. That means the last one was the 100th. And I forgot to celebrate it!

So here I am. Celebrating. Whoopee.

Crush Number 2 againagainagain

There is a girl. And I am infatuated. Hay.

"She rips me like no other..."

SPOILER ALERT!

Jack shot Curtis! What the hell?? And then he turns emo! And then shit really hits the fan when the terrorists detonate the nuke! Great googly moogly! I did not see that coming. I knew something bad was gonna happen but the nuke actually detonating? That was horrible! How very depressing and exciting.

For The Win

Racing down the court with Hans Thiele chasing after him, Eric Salamat couldn't help but showboat a little. In one fluid motion, he turned his head, stuck his tongue out at Thiele, whipped his head back forward and blew the lay-up.

And that's why Ateneo's winning this year's UAAP championship.

Call it bravado, call it supreme confidence, call it whatever you want, that's the reason why this team is going to duplicate what the 2002 team did and beat La Salle for the 'chip.

Did I mention they're sweeping it too?

This team has got it. "It" being the swagger, the the-trophy-already-has-our-name-on-it-you-have-to-take-it-from-us mentality. They know this is their championship to lose. They know it and they love it.

Why whouldn't they believe in themselves that much? The roster is top to bottom the best Ateneo has had since the aformentioned 2002 team with Rico Villanueva, Rich Alvarez, Larry Fonacier and the rest. Rabbah Al-Hussaini has transformed himself into the best center not-yet-in-the-PBA today. And with a floor game that combines solid post moves (turnaround jumphooks, up and unders, a solid mid-range jumper) and a commitment to running the floor everytime down, Ateneo's biggest Eagle leads the team in scoring and rebounding at 17.5 ppg and 9.5 rpg. Defensively, he isn't as big as Jervy Cruz but you can't bully him like before. On the other end of the spectrum, Chris Tiu is the steadiest guard in the UAAP (sorry JV Casio). You know about the scoring (13.6 ppg) but the rebounding (6 rpg) and the assists (3.6 apg) are solid as well. He does a good job staying out of foul trouble (1.5 fpg) and not turning the ball over (1.7) Point guard and center are the two most important positions in basketball and we have the two best at each position.

While Chris and Rabbah have locked up spots on the Mythical 5, Nonoy Baclao may end up being the real MVP. Nonoy brings to the table reliable rebounding and scoring, 7.7 and 7.3 respectively and superb shot-blocking at 2.5 swats per but it's the little things he does that translate to winning. Timely putbacks when the offense bogs down, the ability to set good screens and a defensive presence that has the other teams rethinking any open lane to the basket. Every coach's dream big and every opponents nightmare match-up. He's strong and lanky, swift and powerful, the perfect guy to grab that crucial board or make an emphatic stop.

The other players are no chickens either. Ryan Buenafe is not your average rookie. Eric Salamat is by far the most explosive player on the squad. Yuri Escueta, Mike Baldos and Jai Reyes bring veteran leadership and savvy to the team while everybody else makes steady contributions across the board. Again, pound-for-pound, no one's got more talent than Ateneo.

Thing is, talent is one thing, teamwork is another. Without teamwork, talent counts for nothing. The main reason why Ateneo is 14-1? They've combined into the most beautiful and destructive force in the UAAP. When everything's clicking, like when they went on that staggering 51-17 run against UE in the semis, they're unstoppable. They do everything a championship team is supposed to. Make the extra pass, rotate properly on defense, work together, make their free throws, box out, pat each other's back, scowl when necessary and smile for the cameras. This team is for real.

Of course, if La Salle forces the second stringers to commit turnovers, if they can get Nonoy and Rabbah into foul trouble, if they can hound Chris all night, if they can deny Eric and Ryan any lanes to the basket, if they can find the open man when Ateneo collapses on Casio, James Mangahas and Rico Maierhofer and if they can get out and run, La Salle will have the upper hand. That's a lot of 'if's' though. But the one thing these Eagles have that La Salle can't beat is the desire to win. This team wants it too bad to let it slip away. Chris wants it to leave on a high note. Rabbah wants it to cement his ascension to "the man" status. Yuri and Mike want to get one before they leave too. Eric wants one to silence all the haters who say he's too fancy and turnover prone. Ryan wants it to fulfill the expectations everyone put on him as the number 1 recruit in the country. Everyone on the team wants it so bad. Everyone not on the team wants it soooo bad. Students, alumni, teachers and staff, everyone wants this team to win. This is it. The best chance we have. 2008 is just like 2002; it's our time.

For Ateneo to win this thing, they're going to have to believe that they are the best team in the UAAP. They'll have to continue playing with the knowledge that what they do is what they're supposed to do to win the big one. Leave no room for fear and no room for doubt. Championship teams believe in themselves and Ateneo has definitely got the faith strong and alive. I'm doing my part. I believe. We got this on lock. I believe in the Ateneo Blue Eagles. This is our time.

2:45 A.M.

Yeah, 2:45 A.M. Damn it. It's Monday now. Early Monday. I should be asleep. But I was doing work. (And playing Mahjong Titans.)

Comics related thoughts:
-I really wanna find out what the hell 'Dark Reign' is about. I guess in November then.
-I like 'New Ways to Die.' Mainly because of the art. Jrjr is THE Spider-Man artist.
-The Nova and GotG tie-ins to Secret Invasion were underwhelming.
-Liked Green Lantern Corps, Secret Invasion, Invincible Iron Man and Secret Invasion: Runaways/Young Avengers
-Iron Man 2!!! Spider-Man 4 AND 5! Downey! Favreau! Raimi! Tobey!

Basketball thoughts:
-Ateneo OWNED UE. Wow. I think the best way to sum up the game is 51-17 run = 56-28 lead. WOW. Chris had 2 points. LANG. Again, WOW.
-I have to mention, Ryan Buenafe's block against La Salle last week, the one on Mangahas? MY GOODNESS. That was a block.
-So I played 2 intrams games last week and lost both. I should assert myself more. Take less threes and drive for some floaters and runners. And lose weight.
-Nonoy Baclao should be on the Mythical 5. If Rabbeh and Chris are shoo-ins, Nonoy should be too. Without him, we wouldn't be here. He's this year's Rich Alvarez. The last 2 members of my Mythical 5 are JV Casio (Duh.) and Marnel "Mac" Baracael. Dude got shot. GOT SHOT BY A GUN. And he recovered fast enough to play again and at a high level, mind you. That's mythic right there.
-Indiana Pacers = 2009 NBA Champs. Done deal. Beware the Danger Bros. (Danny and Dunleavy)

School thoughts:
-JEEP! UPUPUPUPUPUPUP!!! DITOPOANGSAKAYANNGUP!!!! UBEUBEUBE!!!
-Damn Marketing.
-I like Com and LS na lang.

Love thoughts:
-Shit. Yeah, shit. Gah.

Great Googly Moogly

And you just have to wonder, what the hell is wrong? What is the matter? Does it matter at all?

You go through the motions, the heartache and all that jazz and you end up with nothing. A big tub of nothing. It's nothing really. That's what you get when you let your heart win. That's what she said. Darl'n what the hell? Am I doing it wrong? Can you tell me how to do it right?

I am not amused. This, this is what, WHO, I want? And this is what I'm doing to get her? Crap.

Barnacles and bracelets, I am an idiot. Grade-A imbecile is what I am.

What to do now, that's the question. This song, this story, you've heard it time and time again. No happy endings here. No smiles and laughs. Just "move a long sir." Ain't it a bitch?

There aren't any cheeseburgers out there that can save me. No diets, no shoes, no teddy bears or lunch boxes. Winning this isn't part of the plan. Losing is all there is. All there is to you my boy.

The brave never taste of death but once well buddy lemme tell you, I've been brave. What does it get me but nothing of use? Chances. Challenges. Choices. Changes. Yeah, I still remember. God's favorite people, appropriately I said, the lonely. At the time, I had no idea that that would be telling.

Design me a nice jacket that I can wear it and let the wind lift me up. The telephone rings and the voice on the other end doesn't sound all that happy. What's new?

What's new but the new heartache?

There has to be something more right? There's got to be.

Very Excited

Brian Bendis you slay me. I am now very excited for Post-Secret Invasion Marvel. Secret Warriors was announced a while back and that already had me excited. But a new Avengers book? Dark Avengers? With Mike Deodato on art? I am there! A new writer on Mighty Avengers? Color me interested! And "Dark Reign?" Hell yeah! Plus Mark Millar returns to the Ultimate Universe with Ultime Avengers? Hay, I'll need to save up on cash. Looks like I need to adjust my pull-list soon.
